RCIA is now

OCIA st andrew mark.png

Is God calling you? Have you been listening?

Are you interested in becoming Catholic?

Do you know someone that wants to join the Church?

OCIA, Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (formerly RCIA), is for those interested in joining the Catholic Church. Two subgroupings comprise each OCIA class:

1. Catechumens: Those initiates who have not participated in a baptism under any church denomination.

2. Candidates: Those who have been baptized (with a valid Christian Baptism).

Together they meet on Monday Evenings from 7:00-9:00pm in the Parish Meeting Room to learn the fundamentals of living as a Catholic Christian. Full initiation occurs during the Easter Vigil Service.

Are you thinking about becoming a Catholic Christian?

This process that adults embark on to become Catholic is a journey of faith sharing, ritual, catechesis, scripture study, prayer, and reflection, guided and welcomed by members of our parish community. We invite you to join us in the Pre-Catechumenate phase of OCIA, designed to provide you an opportunity to become more acquainted with our Catholic community, its traditions, beliefs, and the gospel values that guide our lives as Christians. We welcome you and your questions to this journey of faith and hope you will find us not mere travel agents who are experts in the field but instead friends who offer companionship for the expedition.

Are you a Baptized Catholic who has not received Confirmation?

All Christians baptize, but only a few denominations see the need for an anointing following baptism called Confirmation. So why does the Catholic Church insist that this sacramental anointing is essential? Isn't it enough to have been washed clean, made God's sons and daughters, and filled with the Holy Spirit in baptism? Come find out what it means to be empowered to serve!

To be eligible to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, you must:

— Be 17 years or older

— Be a baptized Catholic

— Have received the First Eucharist

— Be under no Canonical Penalty

LATE HAVE I LOVED YOU

Order of Christian Initiation of Adults

prayer for

OCIA

O God, we thank You for implanting the gift of faith in human hearts.

We thank You for sending Jesus, Your Son, as the fullness of Your love.

May His life and mission lead us to share in Your divine life.

Today, we ask You to bless in a special way all inquirers, catechumens, and candidates

who have generously responded to the invitation of Jesus: Come, follow Me.

Help them to persevere in their journey of faith despite any difficulties.

Bless all those who minister to them through the RCIA program,

under the guidance of Your Holy Spirit, that they may lead others to a life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Call us to renew our faith and inspire us all to be Your light in the world.

Amen.
