Pre-Jordan

Jesus said to John the Baptist during his baptism at the river Jordan: “Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness”. (Mt: 3:15). “On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came from the heavens: You are my beloved Son, with you I am well pleased” (Mark 1: 10-11).

Pre-Jordan takes its name from the above scripture readings and is a parish program required for new parents and godparents

Classes: first Wednesday each month, 7:00PM, Parish Meeting Room
Baptism: is celebrated most Sunday at 1:00PM. Call the parish Rectory at 215-968-2262, ext. 10 to make an appointment to register for the Baptism.

We strongly encourage you to learn more about this sacrament online through our parish’s on line subscription to FORMED. You are invited to create a free account on FORMED using Saint Andrew’s parish code 71c5a2 and entering your own email address and password.

Once you have created your account, log on to Symbolon and click on Part 2: Living the Faith and watch Session 1 – The Sacraments: Baptism and Confirmation
Godparents: Only one godparent is required for Baptism. If two are chosen, one must be male and one female. A godparent must be a fully initiated Roman Catholic (baptized, confirmed and receiving the Eucharist), at least sixteen years of age and in good standing with the Church (including married in the Church if they are married). A baptized non-Catholic Christian may be chosen as a “Christian Witness” provided there is one Catholic godparent. A former Catholic may not serve as either a godparent or Christian Witness. Godparents will be asked to have their church fill out a form supporting their eligibility.
